Marketing for Mechanics That Keeps the Hoists Busy
Most workshops do not need more marketing channels. They need the channels they already have to work together, from the first "mechanic near me" search to the review that wins the next customer.
What does good marketing for mechanics include?
Good marketing for mechanics connects five things: Google Search ads for urgent repair and service searches, a fast website or landing page built to take calls and bookings, a complete Google Business Profile, a steady flow of Google reviews collected at vehicle pick-up, and automated service and rego reminders that bring customers back. Each part feeds the next.
How people actually choose a mechanic
Workshop customers arrive in two very different moods. The first is urgent: a warning light, a grinding brake, an air-con that died in January. They search "mechanic near me" or "brake repairs" on their phone, look at the map results, read two or three reviews and call whoever looks trustworthy and can fit them in. That decision often takes minutes.
The second is planned: a logbook service, a pre-purchase inspection, a 4WD getting set up for a trip. These customers compare more carefully, check prices where they can find them, and look for signs you know their type of vehicle. Good marketing for mechanics has to serve both moods, because the urgent customer who has a good experience becomes the planned customer for the next ten years.
Job value ranges from a quick battery swap to a major engine or suspension job, but the real value is the relationship, which is why follow-up matters as much as the first click.
The workshop customer-acquisition system, step by step
Every stage is measured, so you can see where customers drop out instead of guessing.
- The search
A driver nearby searches "mechanic near me" or a specific job like "clutch replacement".
- The Google Search ad
A Bluepeek-managed ad matches that job, with call and location assets so they can ring you from the results page.
- The landing page
A page about that service shows your hours, location, real workshop photos and a clear call or booking button.
- The call or booking
Calls and bookings are tracked as conversions and notify you instantly. A missed call gets an automatic text back while you are under a car.
- The job and the follow-up
The customer is added to automated SMS or email reminders for their next service or rego check.
- The review request
At pick-up, the customer taps an NFC review card on the counter or receives an SMS link, and every customer is offered the Google review link.
- The stronger listing
Fresh reviews that mention the job make your profile more convincing to the next searcher.
Google Ads for mechanics: what we build
We build Google Search campaigns with ad groups organised by service and location intent: general servicing, brakes, auto electrical, air conditioning, suspension, diagnostics and whatever else you genuinely do. Each group gets its own keywords, negative keyword lists to block job seekers and DIY searches, responsive search ads and a matching landing page.
Radius targeting keeps spend near the people who will actually drive in, not across the whole city. We explain the setup in our Google Ads management service, and the how-to lives in our guide to Google Ads for mechanics.
What we will not do: promise a cost per lead or a number of bookings before the campaign has run. Our fee is agreed in writing before anything starts.
The landing page a workshop needs
A stressed driver wants four answers in five seconds: can you fix this, can you fit me in, where are you, and can I trust you.
- Click-to-call button visible without scrolling on a phone
- Opening hours, street address and a map, because many customers drop the car off on the way to work
- Makes, models and job types you specialise in (European, 4WD, fleet, auto electrical)
- Real photos of your workshop, hoists and team, not stock images
- Recent Google reviews, pulled from your real profile
- A short booking form that asks for rego, vehicle and the problem, and notifies you instantly
We cover the full website side separately on our websites for mechanics page. You can see how that works on real workshops in our work for Superior Garage, AE & AC Service Center and Airborne Suspension & Mechanical, all in Malaga, Perth.
Google Business Profile for mechanics
For urgent searches, the map results often matter more than the website. Your profile needs a primary category that reflects your core work, such as Mechanic or Auto repair shop, and secondary categories only for things you actually do, like auto electrical, air conditioning or tyres. Categories that overreach can confuse customers and do not help you.
We also fill out the services list, keep hours accurate (including public holidays) and add photos of the workshop from the street, the reception and the hoists. Our Google Business Profile management service covers this in detail.
Reviews and reminders: where workshops win repeat work
The best moment to ask for a review is at pick-up, when the customer has their keys back and the car is running properly. A review that says "fixed the air-con on my Hilux same day" is far more persuasive to the next searcher than "great service", so we encourage staff to mention the job when they ask.
Bluepeek never filters who gets the review link. Every customer is offered it, which is what Google policy requires. See how our Google review system works.
Reminders are the other half. Automated SMS reminders for the next service, plus follow-up after major repairs, keep your workshop top of mind without anyone at the front desk remembering to call. We set these up as part of our AI automation for Australian businesses.
Who our marketing for mechanics suits
This system suits independent workshops, auto electricians, air-con specialists and 4WD and suspension shops that have capacity for more work and want to stop relying on word of mouth alone. If you are already booked out for weeks, we start with reviews and reminders rather than ads.

Frequently asked questions
Is Google Ads worth it for a mechanic?
It can be, because people searching for a mechanic usually need one now. Whether it pays off depends on your service area, your capacity, how well your landing page converts and how competitive your suburb is. We set up call and form tracking from day one so you can judge it on real bookings, not clicks. Read our Google Ads for mechanics guide for the detail.
Do I need a new website to run ads for my workshop?
Not always. If your current site loads quickly on a phone, shows your hours and location and has a clear call button, we can build dedicated landing pages alongside it. If it is slow or hard to use on mobile, fixing that first usually saves money, because paying for clicks that land on a poor page wastes budget.
How do I get more Google reviews for my mechanic business?
Ask at pick-up, every time, and make it effortless. A tap-to-review card on the counter or an SMS link sent after the job works far better than hoping people remember. Ask customers to mention the job you did. Never offer discounts for reviews or only ask happy customers, because both break Google policy.
Can you set up service reminders for my customers?
Yes. We set up automated SMS or email reminders based on when a customer was last in, so they hear from you when their next service is due. We can also add follow-ups after bigger repairs. The aim is repeat bookings without your front desk having to keep a manual list.
Do you only work with Gold Coast workshops?
No. We are based at Molendinar on the Gold Coast but work with businesses across Australia, and several of our workshop websites are for mechanics in Malaga, Perth. You deal directly with the two founders.
Can you guarantee more bookings?
No, and you should be wary of anyone who does. We can promise a properly built system, honest tracking and clear reporting on calls, forms and bookings. How much work that produces depends on your market, your prices and how you handle enquiries once they arrive.
